The union representing an estimated 18,000 Manitoba health-care support workers is recommending its members accept a new collective agreement after nearly two years of bargaining.
Canadian Union of Public Employees said it reached a tentative agreement Monday with the provincial health labour relations services.
According to the union, a general wage increase of 9.6 per cent over a seven-year period dating to 2017 is included in the tentative agreement. Wage increases for 2022 and 2023 are at two per cent.

Signing bonuses, increased evening and night-shift premiums, northern retention allowances, and retention bonuses for positions “designated as being in challenging areas,” also form part of the tentative agreement.
Its term is April 1, 2017, to March 31, 2023.
Voting to ratify the agreement will occur in the coming weeks, the union said in an update to members.
The bargaining team included representatives from CUPE 204 (Shared Health, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority), CUPE 4270 (Southern Health), CUPE 8600 (Northern Regional Health Authority) and CUPE 500 (Riverview Health Centre/WRHA).
