The Leaf closed until Wednesday after water main break

Assiniboine Park attraction The Leaf has closed for two days just weeks after opening to the public due to a water main break.

The horticultural space had a burst pipe and clean water leak Christmas Day and is expected to re-open Wednesday. The restaurant inside The Leaf, Gather Craft Kitchen and Bar, will be closed for a week.

A social media post from Assiniboine Park Conservancy said it can not give automatic refunds or transfer ticket dates. Ticketholders have to complete an online form to request a refund.

The burst pipe is another hurdle after the troubled journey to The Leaf’s opening day. The project was originally slated to open in late 2020 and cost $75 million — but its final price tag was $130 million and its opening came after three civil lawsuits around the space filed last year.

Opening day at The Leaf on Dec. 3 saw over 1,000 visitors.
