One man is accused in a spate of road rage incidents in Thompson, RCMP say.
On Feb. 10, a man went to the northern Manitoba city’s detachment at about 11 a.m. to a report an incident, police said Monday.
He told Mounties he was driving on Thompson Drive when he honked at another vehicle, whose driver then rolled down his window and threw a coffee at his vehicle.
While both vehicles kept moving, the suspect began punching at the victim’s vehicle’s passenger mirror, RCMP said.
Just before 4 p.m. March 1, RCMP were called to Thompson Drive, where a driver had honked at another vehicle parked illegally on the road. The driver of the parked vehicle got out and threatened the other person before hitting the vehicle with his fists, RCMP said.
As the first victim drove away, the suspect followed in his vehicle, honking his horn and driving erratically, police said.
Just after 4 p.m. March 4, RCMP were again called to Thompson Drive, where a woman stopped her vehicle to allow pedestrians to cross. A man drove up behind her at a fast speed and began to yell at the pedestrians before yelling at the driver.
He “threatened and assaulted” the woman and damaged her vehicle’s passenger mirror, RCMP said.
On Sunday, RCMP arrested a 45-year-old Thompson man at his home. He will be charged with assault, three counts each of uttering threats and mischief, and under the Highway Traffic Act.
