Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for southwestern Manitoba, calling for 10 to 15 cm of snow to fall Sunday.
Snow began falling in southeastern Saskatchewan and southwestern Manitoba Sunday morning and the western Red River Valley and southern Interlake is expected to get snowfall by the afternoon.
The heavy snowfall may reduce visibility. Blowing snow may further reduce visibility in open areas late this evening and overnight due to gusty northeastern winds. For the latest road conditions, visit Manitoba 511.
The snow is expected to taper off overnight.
Winnipeg is expected to escape the worst of the storm; Environment Canada forecasters expect only 2 cm of snow to fall on the city Sunday afternoon.
More snow is in the forecast for southern Manitoba — including Winnipeg — later this week, with another system expected to drop as much as 10 to 15 cm Tuesday and Wednesday.
