SUBMITTED Dr. Allison McCulloch of Brandon University will serve as the president of the Manitoba Organization of Faculty Associations for the 2023-24 academic year.
A Brandon-based political science professor is taking the reins of the Manitoba Organization of Faculty Associations.
On Monday, MOFA announced the departure of president Scott Forbes — an outspoken critic of the Progressive Conservatives’ cost-cutting approach to post-secondary education during his tenure.
“It has been an absolute honour to work with an incredibly talented group of people during a period of tumult for our universities in Manitoba,” Forbes, a biology professor at the University of Winnipeg, said in a news release. “But all good things must come to an end.”
Allison McCulloch of Brandon University, former vice-president of MOFA, is its new leader. Patrick Noel, a history professor at Saint Boniface University assumes her previous role.
McCulloch said the executive will continue speaking with “a united voice” on issues facing members, including maintaining institutional autonomy and advocating for stable, long-term funding for the sector.
MOFA represents more than 1,600 academic staff from the University of Manitoba, U of W, BU and USB.
