The faculty association at Saint Boniface University has voted in favour of ratifying a collective agreement that spans from 2020-21 to 2023-24.

Lecturers are to be compensated $830 more per course load (or, for the equivalent of three credits) under the new deal.

Members of the union — l’Association of Professors and Professionals of l’USB — had been without a contract for more than three years. An independent mediator helped the parties reach a tentative deal last week following months of contentious bargaining developments, including a strike vote.

“These negotiations were the result of a prolonged and strenuous effort,” the faculty association wrote in a news release.

“While we are delighted to have a legal framework defining the terms of our work, the process has also raised many other issues which will have to be addressed in the next round of negotiations in January 2024.”
