4:52 PM

Dominic Toninato’s overtime goal with the hosts on the power play lifted the Manitoba Moose to a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Wranglers on Sunday afternoon in downtown Winnipeg.

The veteran forward tipped a shot by Brad Lambert — the 40th of the day by the Moose — with just 31 seconds left in the extra session.

Manitoba upped its record to 1-1 to begin the American Hockey League season after falling 4-2 to Calgary in the season opener Friday night.

The Moose, down 2-0 after 40 minutes, received goals early in the final period from Chaz Lucius and Lambert to pull even.

Moose netminder Collin Delia earned the win, stopping 26 shots.

Six people are facing charges after police caught them brandishing weapons in a downtown parkade Saturday night.

Around 9:30 p.m., numerous police units— including members of the tactical support team and the Air1 police helicopter — responded to a multi-storey parkade in the 200 block of Hargrave Street after several people were spotting pointing firearms at vehicles, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a release.

Responding officers seized an AK47-style pellet gun, two replica BB C02 pistols, another pellet gun, bear spray and a pair of machetes from the scene. Three youths, aged 14-, 15- and 16-years-old are facing charges for possessing weapons. Three adults, one aged 18-years-old and two 19-years-old, are similarly charged.

One of the youth suspects, a female, was detained. The rest were released on an undertaking, police said.
