The city might help a private girls’ school pay for a winter access ramp to a river trail, after all.

On Wednesday, the city centre community committee voted to provide $12,550 to help cover the ramp’s $17,800 cost. The decision comes despite a city staff recommendation that the funding be denied because the project does not meet criteria for land dedication reserve funding, including the fact it isn’t on city-owned land.

To be finalized, the decision requires council approval.

Balmoral Hall already raised donations to cover part of the bill for the seasonal ramp to the Nestaweya River Trail from Cornish Avenue, which it installed on its campus in January.

The community committee voted to waive the criteria and provide the funding.
