Meth, ammunition, stolen tools seized in rural traffic stop
12:58 PM
Two men are facing numerous charges after RCMP say they found meth and stolen tools in their vehicle early Wednesday.
Stonewall RCMP said Friday they approached a parked vehicle with sleeping occupants in the area of Highway 7 and Highway 67 in the RM of Rockwood around 1 a.m. Nov. 8. An officer knocked on the car’s window and the driver opened the door, revealing what appeared to be drug paraphernalia. Both suspects were arrested.
A search of the car yielded 10 grams of suspected methamphetamine, ammunition and an assortment of tools that had allegedly been stolen in a recent theft, Mounties say.
A 45-year-old man from the RM of Bifrost and a 44-year-old man from Winnipeg are facing multiple charges, including possession of meth, possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply. Both were released on orders.

Winnipeg police says a pedestrian is in critical condition after a collision Thursday evening.
Police were called to Main Street and Logan Avenue at 5:37 p.m., where responders found the victim and rushed them to hospital. Police have not released details on the person’s age or gender.
A Winnipeg Transit bus could be seen at the scene behind yellow crime scene tape.

Northbound Main Street was completely closed to traffic between Logan and Higgins after an MVA involving a Winnipeg Transit bus Thursday.
RCMP dog tracks stolen off-road vehicle suspect
10:12 AM
RCMP, with the help of a police dog, tracked down a suspect who’s accused of fleeing from a stolen off-road vehicle that got stuck in the mud in the Rural Municipality of Westlake-Gladstone.
Mounties say the Amaranth detachment was called about a suspicious vehicle driving in and out of yards off Road 50 West in the RM at about 12:25 p.m. on Wednesday.
The side-by-side off-road vehicle got stuck in mud and the driver and passenger ran off into the bush north of Road 50 West and Road 92 North, RCMP say.
Mounties found the stuck vehicle and determined it had been stolen from Sandy Bay First Nation and called for assistance from First Nation police, who helped contain the area as officers searched.
A female suspect left the woods and was arrested, RCMP say, while officers used a megaphone to tell the other suspect a police dog was on route.
The dog tracked the suspect to the bush line, where he was trying to hide in a woodpile. He tried to run, but the dog and its handler stopped him, RCMP say.
Blake Beaulieu, 32, from Winnipeg, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of resisting a peace officer and one count of mischief. He was also wanted on warrants for assaults and a robbery.
