The Manitoba team skipped by Kyle Kurz came up just short at the Canadian mixed curling championship in Swift Current, Sask., on Saturday afternoon.
The squad fell 6-4 to Shaun Meacham of the host city in the championship final.
Kurz, with third Beth Peterson, second Ian McMillan and lead Melissa Kurz, had won nine consecutive games before losing to Saskatchewan in a final championship-pool game Friday night but easily made the playoffs.
The Manitobans bounced back to defeat Scott McDonald of Ontario 6-5 in a Saturday morning semi-final game to set up the rematch with Saskatchewan.
Kurz evened the score 4-4 in the seventh end of the championship battle but surrendered a decisive deuce in the eighth.
