Boy, 15, charged in Bannatyne slaying

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with manslaughter for his alleged role in the shooting death of a Brampton man on Sunday.

Winnipeg police were called to a rental house at 599 Bannatyne Ave. at about 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, where another teen and a 20-year-old man had been shot. The man, now identified as Pharrell Asare of Brampton, Ont., died at the scene.

The 15-year-old has also been charged with causing death by criminal negligence and two firearms charges.

Homicide detectives are still looking for information, including video surveillance, and have asked for anyone with a tip to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS.
