JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Caleb Fields scored 35 points to lead Arkansas State past Texas State 85-82 on Thursday night.
Fields made a game-winning steal with 2.1 seconds left before teammate Izaiyah Nelson was fouled and made one free throw.
Fields also contributed 10 assists and six steals for the Red Wolves (7-9, 3-1 Sun Belt Conference). Dyondre Dominguez shot 6 for 6, including 3 for 3 from beyond the arc to add 16 points. Izaiyah Nelson had 12 points and was 5 of 7 shooting and 2 of 5 from the free throw line.
Fields was 16 of 20 at the stripe to tie an arena record for most free throws made and attempted in a game.
The Bobcats (6-10, 0-4) were led by Brandon Love, who recorded 19 points and six rebounds. Dylan Dawson added 16 points for Texas State. Coleton Benson also had 15 points.
