Crews are out plowing snow from main routes after snow and freezing rain, the City of Winnipeg said Monday morning.
The routes include streets, sidewalks and pathways, the city said in a news release sent at about 9:20 a.m.
The work will be based on the city’s street-priority system.

“Motorists should drive to conditions and use extreme caution when near heavy equipment,” the news release said.
The city’s annual winter route parking ban, which prohibits parking between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. on streets designated as winter routes, remains in effect. Winter routes are marked by signage.
“Those parked in violation may be ticketed and towed to the towing company’s compound,” the city said.
More information about city snow-clearing is available here.
Natalie Hasell, a warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada, said 3 cm to 12 cm of snow fell on various parts of the city during the storm, along with an unknown amount of freezing drizzle and rain earlier.
A blowing snow advisory was in effect in Winnipeg until early Monday, with wind gusting up to 69 km/h.
Many rural school divisions cancelled classes Monday. Five Winnipeg schools in St. Norbert — four in the Seine River School Division and one Division scolaire franco-manitobaine school — are closed.
All Brandon School Division schools are closed because of heavy overnight snowfall, and Brandon University classes are cancelled.
Manitoba Public Insurance has cancelled all driver testing and estimating appointments in Winkler. MPI’s Brandon service centre has cancelled road tests. Road tests and estimating appointments are cancelled in Dauphin. Estimating appointments are cancelled in Swan River.
There are no remaining weather alerts for southern Manitoba. Monday’s forecast high for Winnipeg is -10 C, with winds of 30 km/h gusting to 60 until decreasing in the mid-afternoon.
