Police are searching for a suspect who literally got his hands dirty.
The Winnipeg Police Service received an online damage report from a food store regarding an incident at about 2:40 p.m. on Feb. 13.
The WPS did not identify the business, but the Free Press has learned the store was the Bulk Barn at 915 Empress St.
Major crimes unit investigators learned a man had entered the store with mud on his hands and immediately placed them in bulk food storage bins near the entrance. The suspect left and fled on foot.
“The bulk food was rendered unsellable and cost the business an estimated loss of $2,000,” the WPS said.
The WPS released an image, taken from security video, of the man. He is described as about 25 to 35 years old, about 5-7 to 5-11 in height, with a medium build, darker hair, and a goatee and partial beard. He was wearing a dark-coloured hooded jacket and light-coloured, loose-fitting pants.
