Federated Co-operatives Ltd. says it has no evidence consumer data was compromised during a recent “cybersecurity incident.”
The 80-year-old co-operative shut down some systems at retail and cardlock fuel locations across Western Canada following the event, the company said in a public announcement June 27.
“If the investigation determines that consumer data was compromised, we will take appropriate action,” the company said June 29 in a follow-up announcement.
A representative from Federated Co-op declined to answer further questions Tuesday afternoon, but said it would be releasing an updated statement later in the day or Wednesday.
Affected systems are “internal and customer facing” and “could impact our current inventory of certain grocery items,” the June 29 public statement reads.
Third-party experts are involved and an investigation is underway, according to Federated Co-op.
