Teen dead after reportedly jumping from vehicle

RCMP are investigating after a teenage boy died after reportedly jumping out of a vehicle on Highway 6 last month.

Lundar RCMP were told the 15-year-old boy exited the vehicle near Road 168 North in the Rural Municipality of Grahamdale on June 13. Officers and civilians gave the boy first-aid care until emergency medical services arrived, RCMP said.

The boy, from Pinaymootang First Nation, was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to a Winnipeg hospital, where he died from his injuries.

RCMP said Wednesday that the boy was one of four male youth in the vehicle. He reportedly opened a rear passenger door and jumped out while the vehicle was travelling at high speed.

Police are investigating.
