Electrical malfunction believed to have caused Boyd Avenue fire

A fire in a multi-family home in the St. John’s area Friday is believed to have been caused by an electrical malfunction.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews were sent to the two-and-a-half-storey converted dwelling on the 300 block of Boyd Avenue at 9:14 a.m. They declared the fire under control at 9:59 a.m.
Residents of the building got out before crews arrived at the scene. The City of Winnipeg’s emergency social services team was sent there to help displaced residents find temporary accommodations.
The structure sustained smoke, water and fire damage.
