A man is charged with impaired driving causing death after a motorcyclist was hit from behind on Highway 44.
Harman Singh, 24, died in hospital on July 31, RCMP said in a news release Tuesday. The collision happened about one kilometre east of Highway 59 early on July 29. Singh was transported to hospital in critical condition.
Police previously said the motorcycle was headed west when it was hit by a pickup truck. A 30-year old suspect was found asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle on Henderson Highway in Winnipeg, RCMP said.
A man was arrested, charged and released. He was arrested again Friday and faces the new charge. He’s scheduled to appear in court in Selkirk on Nov. 8.
Singh, who was from India and lived in Winnipeg, had recently obtained permanent residency status to live and work in Canada. He originally came to Manitoba to pursue an education as an international student, a web page for a fundraiser said.
