Shared Health said it is preparing for a potential service disruption if postal workers go on strike Friday.

Clinics have temporarily stopped sending patient appointment letters and pre-appointment information through Canada Post. Patients with upcoming appointments will be contacted by phone or email beforehand, the provincial health organization said in a news release Wednesday.

Patients with upcoming appointments at clinics located at Health Sciences Centre, and at Boundary Trails Hospital between Morden and Winkler, might receive their appointment confirmation by text message.

Confirmation letters for appointments scheduled for after Feb. 1 are being held. If a strike happens and lasts long enough, those patients will receive their appointment confirmation by text or phone.

More information about the potential service disruption is available online.
