Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was called to the 200 block of Magnus Avenue just before 5 a.m. Saturday for reports of a fire involving neighbouring two-storey houses.
When they arrived, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from a house that was vacant, and those flames were extending next door to an occupied home.
The fire was declared under control just before 6 a.m. No injuries were reported and the fire is being investigated.
Crews were also called to a vacant, two-storey house on the 300 block of Flora Avenue around 3:40 a.m. for reports of a fire.
That fire was declared under control at 4:19 a.m. and no occupants were found.
WFPS is reminding the public to contact 911 if they see someone actively entering a vacant building. If boarded windows or doors have been breached but no one is attempting to enter the building, the incident can be reported to 311.
