The Nestaweya River Trail now extends the full six kilometres from Hugo Docks on the Assiniboine River to Churchill Drive on the Red River, The Forks announced on Saturday.
The first section of the trail opened on Dec. 31, with crews gradually opening sections along the Assiniboine River before extending the trail onto the Red River over the past two weeks.
People are invited to sponsor a metre of the Nestaweya River Trail this year through the Trail Together campaign in support of The Forks Foundation. Nearly 1,000 metres have already been sponsored.
On Friday, six new warming huts were unveiled, and the huts will now be moved down to the Nestaweya River Trail.
