The provincial government has launched a new advertising campaign to encourage Manitobans to buy local goods as a potential trade war with the U.S. looms.
The campaign — called Support Manitoba. Buy Local. — has launched on digital platforms and will expand to billboards and radio, Premier Wab Kinew said in a news release Wednesday.
The campaign includes a website that links to made-in-Manitoba and made-in-Canada products and businesses.
“Manitobans are united in their resolve to support each other and how we as consumers choose to spend our money can make a big impact,” Kinew said in the news release.
“These past few weeks have made it clear that we need to diversify our economy and trading partners, and buying Manitoban or Canadian will help create strong businesses and jobs here in Manitoba.”
Kinew and fellow cabinet members held a news conference on the announcement.
