City police are warning about a new form of fentanyl that has appeared.

The Winnipeg Police Service became aware of the drug through an ongoing investigation by its guns & gangs unit.

“The fentanyl has been pressed and packaged into unique shapes that look similar to cut-out cookies, colourful candles, soaps or confections,” the WPS said in a news release Friday.

Police warned that anyone who sees such items should not touch them. They asked people to call the WPS non-emergency line at 204-986-6222 to report such items, or 911 if they are in a medical crisis.
