The Winnipeg Arts Council announced Monday it has selected Dominic Lloyd as its new executive director.

Lloyd, a longtime staff member of the arts funding organization, will be stepping into the leadership role previously held by Carol A. Phillips, who retired last September, on March 3.

Originally from Yukon Territory, Lloyd worked with an array of community theatre and arts organizations before moving to Winnipeg in 2004 to become artistic director of the West End Cultural Centre.

He was hired by the arts council in 2010 to manage Winnipeg’s year as Cultural Capital of Canada, later becoming the council’s program and arts development manager.
