With a federal election expected sooner than later, the Conservatives have nominated a familiar candidate for the St. Boniface-St. Vital riding.
Shola Agboola, a provincial corrections worker with a master’s degree in public administration, confirmed he was running again in a social media post. In the post, he described himself as a “common-sense Conservative.”
Agboola ran in the 2021 federal election and came in second to Liberal candidate Dan Vandal, who secured 43.8 per cent of the vote compared to the Conservative candidate’s 28 per cent.

He joins Liberal candidate and former Centre Culturel Franco-Manitobain director, Ginette Lavack, and New Democratic Party candidate Thomas Linner, formerly with the Manitoba Health Coalition.
The riding has been largely Liberal over the years. Vandal was MP from 2015-2021 with Conservative Shelly Glover serving two terms before that, from 2008-15.
Vandal announced in October he would not run for re-election.
Prime Minister Mark Carney was sworn in Friday. He is expected to call an election in the near future.
