A parking lot argument escalated to an assault charge for a 40-year-old Winnipeg woman who is accused of hitting a pedestrian who was trying to save a parking spot.
It happened at about 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at a parking lot in the 1200 block of St. James Street. A woman in her 30s was standing in a parking spot, attempting to save it for her family members who were driving over. Another vehicle arrived first, and the driver started arguing with the pedestrian, then drove into the parking spot, knocking the victim to the ground. The driver then took off “with no concern for the victim on the ground,” the Winnipeg Police Service stated in a news release Sunday. Police later identified a suspect.
The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition for lower-body injuries.
A 40-year-old woman, whose name hasn’t been released, faces charges of assault with a weapon and careless driving. She was released on an undertaking.
