PRINCE GEORGE – Riley Heidt scored three times, netminder Joshua Ravensbergen had 26 saves, and the Prince George Cougars beat the visiting Portland Winterhawks 4-1 in Western Hockey League action on Sunday night at the CN Centre.
Ben Riche also scored for the Cougars, who forced a seventh and deciding game in the first-round playoff series with the victory.
Kyle Chyzowski scored for the Winterhawks, who led the best-of-seven series 3-1, but lost 7-2 on Friday in Portland, Ore., to allow the Cougars to return home.
The teams were scoreless after 20 minutes and tied 1-1 heading into the third. Both went 0-for-2 on the power play and the Cougars outshot the visitors 28-27.
Game 7 is Monday in Prince George.

EDMONTON, Alta. — Lukas Dragicevic’s power-play goal at 19:07 of the third period lifted the visiting Prince Albert Raiders to a 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings, forcing a Game 7 in the best-of-seven, first-round series.
Aiden Oiring scored twice for the Raiders, who were outshot 33-23. Rilen Kovacevic added a single and three assists for the visitors, who trailed 1-0 after the first period, but were tied 1-1 heading into the third. Daxon Rudolph chipped in with two assists.
Marshall Finnie, Rylen Roersma and Landon Hanson scored for the Oil Kings, who erased a 3-1 third-period deficit with two goals.
The Raiders were 2-for-3 on the power play, while the Oil Kings went 1-for-6.
Game 7 will be played Tuesday in Prince Albert, Sask.
