SAULT STE. MARIE – Sault Ste. Marie police say a man has been arrested after a crash between a pickup truck and an e-bike left one teenager dead and another seriously injured early Sunday morning.

Police say officers responded to a crash in the city’s west end around 1 a.m.

They allege an 18-year-old was driving a pickup truck northbound on Goulais Avenue and was attempting to make a left turn when the truck hit two people travelling south on an e-bike. 

Police say the two 15-year-old victims were taken to hospital.

They say one was pronounced dead while the other was left with serious injuries. 

Police say the pickup truck driver was arrested and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Police did not provide further details on the arrest or possible charges.
