Agricultural producers should exercise caution around Manitoba Hydro infrastructure after multiple recent power outages, the public utility is warning.
There have been several incidents this year where farm machinery has hit Hydro equipment and caused significant damage, Hydro said Friday.
Three incidents have happened in the last week, including one near Grosse Isle that resulted in the loss of a transmission tower. Other incidents have caused local power outages.
Hydro is asking producers to apply for clearance permits if equipment being moved is more than 4.8 metres in height.
When driving equipment under a power line, operators should ensure a distance of at least three metres, Hydro said. If producers contact an overhead line, producers should not exit their equipment and should call 911,
