WINNIPEG – Eight children were taken to hospitals Tuesday morning after a school bus collided with a tractor southwest of Manitoba’s capital city.

RCMP say the tractor was collecting debris with a grader along a road in the Rural Municipality of Grey when it was rear-ended by the bus.

Mounties say the school bus was transporting 31 children to school in the Prairie Spirit School Division.

They say eight children have been taken to hospitals in the area with minor injuries.

Both drivers were also taken to hospital as a precaution and police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.

The Rural Municipality of Grey is 73 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg.
