After more than a week of waiting, some cottagers in Whiteshell Provincial Park will be able to return to their homes Wednesday.
Ken Pickering, president of the Whiteshell Cottagers Association, told the Free Press some of the closures are being lifted, including areas in the south Whiteshell, Falcon Lake and Barren Lake.
All other areas, including campgrounds, remain closed for now.
The province shuttered the park, which has about 3,500 cottages, on May 13.
The province also confirmed the partial opening.
“Notifications to permanent residents is underway, it is only a change to a small part of the park,” a provincial spokesperson said. “We’ll be sending out information shortly.”
