Mining at Hudbay Minerals’ Snow Lake facility has resumed after the lifting of wildfire-related evacuation orders in the region.

Wildfires haven’t damaged Hudbay’s infrastructure in Snow Lake and Flin Flon, the company said Monday. Gold, zinc and copper are produced at an underground mine with a daily mill capacity of 5,300 tonnes.

Hudbay paused operations during the first week of June as the Town of Snow Lake issued a precautionary evacuation notice. Essential staff members remained on site to help with emergency activities.

Hudbay said Monday it has tabbed more than $2 million in support funding for wildfire relief, including $1.6 million in direct financial support for its employees who were evacuated.

Flin Flon evacuations are still impacting the company’s workforce. Despite recent events, Hudbay expects to meet its annual guidance metrics for Manitoba this year, it said in a news release.
