A teenage girl has been arrested after a young woman was robbed and stabbed in Osborne Village early Monday.
Bystanders stopped the random attack on the victim, who is in her early 20s, on Roslyn Road near Osborne Street late Sunday night, the Winnipeg Police Service said Wednesday. The attackers fled.
The victim was walking to her home after finishing an evening shift at her job. She was jumped from behind and pushed to the ground, police said. She was stabbed and robbed of her phone but managed to disarm one of the suspects and held onto the knife as the assault continued, the WPS said in a news release.
Bystanders called 911, and the woman was taken to hospital in critical condition. Her condition was later upgraded to stable.
Major crimes detectives have arrested one suspect, a 17-year-old girl, and charged her with robbery, aggravated assault and seven counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Detectives asked anyone with information or video related to the attack to contact them at 204-986-6219, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 204-786-8477 (TIPS) or online.
