Winnipeg police have arrested a 19-year-old man accused of committing “sexual acts” on his cats.

Winnipeg Police Service sex crimes investigators were called by the Winnipeg Humane Society in June after the man was brought to hospital for injuries caused by an animal in his care.

Humane society animal protection investigators learned that the man “had committed sexual acts” on the cats in his home, resulting in his injuries, police said on Tuesday.

On June 13, sex crimes investigators, other police and animal protection officers went to the man’s home and removed three cats and took the pets to a veterinary clinic. The cats were then taken to the humane society.

Detectives arrested the man last week. He is going to be charged with bestiality and two animal cruelty related offences. He was let out on an undertaking.
