PEACHLAND – An evacuation order has been issued for a few hundred addresses in the Okanagan Valley due to an out-of-control wildfire.

The order covers 325 addresses in the Peachland, B.C., area, near Kelowna.

Residents were told to leave their properties immediately and only bring critical items like wallets, keys and medication.

Another 1,100 addresses in the area were placed under an evacuation alert, meaning residents had to be ready to leave at a moment’s notice.

The BC Wildfire Service says the Munro Lake Wildfire is burning about six kilometres away from Peachland and is about 0.7 square kilometres in size.

The agency says the fire was discovered on Thursday and is suspected to be human-caused.

There are roughly 110 wildfires burning in British Columbia, including five started in the last 24 hours.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Sept. 25, 2025.
