City police arrested 84 people through the retail theft initiative last month.
Officers laid charges or pursued warrants in more than 200 cases and more than $10,000 in property was recovered in September, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Tuesday.
Last month, the WPS property crime unit also identified and arrested nine “prolific offenders” believed to be responsible for the theft of unrecovered property valued at more than $22,500.
The Manitoba government announced in November that the retail theft initiative — which targets shoplifting and is done in partnership with the Retail Council of Canada and the business community — would be made permanent.
