City police seized $325,000 worth of cocaine and cash after stopping a pair of vehicles suspected of being involved in interprovincial drug trafficking last month.

Officers arrested two suspects in the Tyndall Park area around 1:25 p.m. on Sept. 10, after RCMP tipped them off to a suspicious vehicle seen headed for Winnipeg earlier that day, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Friday.

WPS investigators located a Hyundai Santa Fe and a 2023 Toyota RAV 4 and observed what appeared to be a drug transaction between the drivers. Both suspects were taken into custody, police said.

A search of the vehicles revealed 7.5 kg of cocaine concealed in a hidden compartment of one vehicle, with an estimated worth of $175,000. About $150,000 in cash was found in the second vehicle, WPS said.

A 35-year-old man from Calgary and a 31-year-old man from Winnipeg have been charged with trafficking and possessing the proceeds of property obtained by crime.
