Two face drug trafficking charges in West Kildonan, Garden City busts

Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after Winnipeg police searched two homes in West Kildonan and Garden City.

Police seized $117,000 worth of drugs, $270,000 in illegal cigarettes and more than $21,000 in cash.

As part of a guns and gangs unit investigation, officers pulled over a vehicle in the 400 block of Jefferson Avenue on Nov. 9. A 37-year-old male driver was arrested, found in possession of cocaine and proceeds of crime, police stated in a news release Tuesday. A female passenger was arrested but later released without charges.

Officers executed search warrants in the 400 block of Jefferson Avenue and in the 1-99 block of Teakwood Avenue, seizing methamphetamine, cocaine, illegal cigarettes, cash a money counter and drug-packaging materials.

A 45-year-old woman was arrested following the Teakwood Avenue search. Both were released on undertakings and their names haven’t been publicly released.
