A correctional officer in Windsor, Ont., is facing charges after an alleged sexual assault of an inmate at a local detention centre.
Windsor police say they started investigating earlier this month after receiving information that a female inmate had been sexually assaulted at the facility.
The alleged assaults are reported to have occurred between May and November, while the officer was assigned to supervise female inmates.
Police say the 47-year-old officer was charged with sexual assault and three counts of breach of public trust.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
Police say no further information will be released about the case to protect the identity of the victim and preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
