Arrests made after police spot stolen vehicle

Two people are facing criminal charges following a police chase in the Mandalay West area Saturday night.
A stolen Hyundai Elantra was being driven erratically on McPhillips Street near Burrows Avenue after 10 p.m. Nov. 15, and the driver fled from officers who tried to pull over the car, the Winnipeg Police Service stated in a news release Sunday.
The police helicopter tracked the vehicle. Officers watched as the car stopped in the 1300 block of Carruthers Street and one man got out and ran. He was arrested shortly afterward.
The helicopter tracked the car to the 100 block of Leahcrest Crescent, where two remaining occupants of the vehicle were arrested. A woman, determined to be a passenger, was later released without charges.
Gagandeep Singh Bhullar, 34, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and two breaches of a release order. He was detained in custody.
A 23-year-old man was released on an undertaking. He faces charges of flight while pursued by a peace officer, resisting arrest, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, as well as Highway Traffic Act offences. His name hasn’t been released.
