OTTAWA – Emma Maltais led the way with two goals as the Toronto Sceptres blanked the Ottawa Charge 3-0 in their second and final PWHL pre-season scrimmage on Monday.

Kiara Zanon scored a short-handed goal to put Toronto on the board at 6:54 of the opening period. Daryl Watts, Toronto’s leading scorer last season, pitched in two assists.

Raygan Kirk turned away all 23 shots she faced in the victory.

Gwyneth Philips stopped 18 of the 19 shots sent her way, while Kendra Woodland made 10 saves in relief for Ottawa.

The Sceptres defeated the Charge 3-2 in overtime on Sunday in their previous pre-season matchup.

Toronto will open the regular season with a visit to defending champion Minnesota on Friday, while Ottawa hosts New York on Saturday.
