Jets close out homestand with 3-0 loss to Minnesota

5:41 PM

The Winnipeg Jets ended a three-game homestand with a whimper on Sunday afternoon.

A 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild drops their overall record to 12-9-0, including just 3-6-0 in the last nine games.

Wild netminder Jesper Wallstedt stopped all 32 shots he faced. Jets goaltender Eric Comrie turned aside 26 of 29 shots.

Winnipeg lost defenceman Neal Pionk to a lower-body injury in the first period.

The Jets now hit the road for five straight games starting Wednesday in Washington.

Fire in vacant Flora Avenue put out

4:50 PM

Crews extinguished a fire in a vacant, boarded-up home on Flora Avenue on Sunday.

Firefighters were sent to the 600 block shortly before 3 p.m. and declared the fire under control about 30 minutes later.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Water-main break at Seven Oaks Hospital

3:11 PM

The water supply at Seven Oaks Hospital was shut off over the weekend after a water-main break.

Flooding was noticed in a lower level of the facility at about 10 p.m. Saturday, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority said in a news release Sunday.

Work continued to restore the water supply Sunday afternoon, and contingency plans for water supply are being implemented, the release said.

The hospital’s urgent care remains open. There is “no disruption to service or care,” the WRHA said.

“Any patients scheduled for appointments or services impacted by the water-main break will be contacted directly,” the release said.

Water service at the Wellness Institute is not affected by the shutdown.

Any dialysis patients with questions about their appointments can call 204-795-3735.
