Kerri Einarson has been eliminated from the 2025 Canadian Curling Trials in Halifax.
The skip from Gimli fell 6-3 to Christina Black in Thursday afternoon’s semifinal.
Black, who is playing in her hometown this week, advances to play Rachel Homan in a best-of-three final that starts Friday.
Mounties raid Ebb and Flow First Nation home
3:18 PM
RCMP say several small children were inside a home where they seized cocaine and methamphetamine in a drug raid Tuesday evening.
Mounties obtained a search warrant before raiding the home on Highway 278 in Ebb and Flow First Nation as part of an ongoing investigation.
Officers seized about nine grams of cocaine and eight grams of meth, a shotgun and other items.
A 44-year-old woman, a 42-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy are facing charges. All were released on an undertaking.

Man charged in Opaskwayak Cree Nation weapon incident
2:45 PM
Officers arrested a man with a homemade weapon who was reportedly walking towards a school in Opaskwayak Cree Nation, police say.
The Manitoba First Nations Police Service was contacted by a business at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 15 about an intoxicated man passed out inside. Someone at the business called back to say the man had a large machete and was headed towards the school.
Officers arrested a man after a short foot chase and found “a homemade edged weapon” hidden on him, the MFNPS said in a news release Thursday.
A 23-year-old Easterville man was remanded into custody on several charges, including failing to comply with a probation order.
Most officers wearing body camera: Manitoba RCMP
2:33 PM
Nearly all RCMP officers in Manitoba are now wearing body cameras.
Ninety-eight per cent of officers doing front-line duties across the province have been equipped with the cameras, a Thursday news release said.
“The last remaining officers to receive body-worn cameras are in Berens River, where a new detachment, with the required infrastructure, is scheduled to open next week,” the release said.
Seized birds now available for adoption
10:24 AM
Dozens of birds seized from the home of their dead owner by the city’s animal services agency are now up for adoption.
Forty-three birds — including budgies, canaries, cockatiels, finches and lovebirds — were seized Nov. 12. A list of pets being cared for by the agency is online.
Would-be owners can go to 1057 Logan Ave. to see the animals. Adoptions are done in person from noon to 5:30 p.m. weekdays, and from noon to 4:30 p.m. on weekends. The process usually takes 30 minutes to an hour.
“We ask that you show us a photo of your proposed setup for the birds, to ensure they have what they need. Cockatiels, parrots and lovebirds must be adopted in pairs,” the agency’s website states.
The adoption fee for exotic animals, including birds, is $176, plus GST.

SUPPLIED
Blueberry, a lovebird, is one of the seized birds up for adoption.
Crews put out three fires, including two related to smoking
10:00 AM
Crews extinguished three fires late Wednesday night and early Thursday.
Firefighters were sent to a six-storey apartment building on the 700 block of Sargent Avenue at 11:35 p.m. and declared a fire in one of the suites under control shortly before midnight.
Fire damage was mostly contained to the suite, while parts of the building sustained smoke and water damage.
Shortly after 11:45 p.m., crews were sent to a house on the 800 block of College Avenue and declared a fire there under control shortly after 12:20 a.m. Thursday.
The sole person inside got out before crews arrived and was taken to hospital in stable condition.
“Preliminary observations suggest the cause of the fire was accidental and related to smoking,” the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said of both Wednesday fires.
Shortly before 3:55 a.m. Thursday, crews were sent to a 10-storey apartment building on the 1300 block of Taylor Avenue and declared a fire there under control about 15 minutes later.
The fire was contained to a suite and was apparently caused by an electrical failure, the WFPS said.
