VANCOUVER – Police in Vancouver say they have uncovered a cache of weapons and drugs in a Downtown Eastside rooming house, seizing everything from body armour to a grenade launcher.

The discovery came after officers responded to an assault near the intersection of Carrall and East Cordova streets on Nov. 13, where a 42-year-old man was seriously injured.

Police say the investigation led officers to a rooming house at 50 E. Cordova Street on Nov. 18, where they found the stockpile of illegal drugs, weapons and other items.

In addition to the grenade launcher, police say they found four firearms, seven machetes, whips, baseball bats, hand cuffs, ammunition and about 500 grams of suspected illicit drugs.

Three men and one woman have been arrested, although charges have not been laid pending further investigation.

Police say the male victim of the assault is recovering after being treated in hospital.
