Jets snap losing skid, beat Nashville

NASHVILLE – The Winnipeg Jets snapped a four-game losing streak Saturday night with a 5-2 victory over the Nashville Predators.

Nino Niederreiter had a pair of goals, while Gabe Vilardi, Cole Perfetti and Kyle Connor also scored for the visitors, who improve to 13-11-0 on the year.

Nick Blankenburg and Luke Evangelista scored for the Predators, who are a league-worst 8-13-4.

Jets goalie Eric Comrie stopped 21 of 23 shots to record his first win since taking over the No. 1 duties with Connor Hellebuyck sidelined by a knee injury.

Winnipeg now heads to Buffalo to face the Sabres on Monday night, then wrap up this five-game road trip on Wednesday in Montreal.

Dunstone loses Canadian Curling Trials final

Winnipeg’s Matt Dunstone will not be headed to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.

Brad Jacobs defeated Dunstone 6-5 to sweep the best-of-three series in the Canadian Curling Trials final in Halifax. This is the second time Jacobs will wear the maple leaf on the biggest international stage. He won gold at the 2014 Olympics.

Jacobs won Game 1 9-8 on Friday night.

Two facing charges after drugs, currency seized: police

Winnipeg police say nearly $7,700 worth of drugs were seized after executing a search warrant on a home in the Lord Selkirk Park neighbourhood Friday.

Approximately 88 grams of crack cocaine and 64 grams of black-market marijuana were found at the home on the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue. Police say they also seized over $3,600 of Canadian currency and $20 of American currency.

A 37-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman are facing a charge of possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Both were released on undertakings.

Police seize $32K worth of drugs

Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after police found $32,000 worth of drugs in an apartment Wednesday.

Winnipeg police executed a search warrant on a unit on the 200 block of Adsum Drive as part of a drug trafficking investigation, a Saturday media release sates.

Police say they found 374 grams of cocaine, eight grams of fentanyl, over $11,000 in Canadian currency, a cellphone, drug packaging materials, identification documents and approximately $62,500 worth of jewellery.

A 20-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were released on undertakings.

Child struck by vehicle Friday

A youth pedestrian was hit by a car on River Road near St. Mary’s Road just before 5 p.m. Friday.

The child was sent to hospital as a precaution and is in stable condition, the Winnipeg Police Service confirmed Saturday.

The driver remained at the scene and was co-operative with police.
