NANAIMO – Police in Nanaimo, B.C., say they are investigating the disappearance of a 65-year-old woman and the subsequent discovery of her body as a homicide.

RCMP say Sherry Shelley was reported missing on Nov. 14 but she was found dead later on the same day.

The woman’s remains were found after officers responded to a report of a vehicle on fire in a wooded area near the intersection of College Drive and Highway 19.

Investigators say they are now focusing on any video footage of the woman’s vehicle, a white Volkswagen Tiguan SUV, before she went missing.

Police say anyone with surveillance or dashcam footage of the vehicle in the period between 11 p.m. on Nov. 13 to 3 a.m. on Nov. 14 should contact them.

Investigators say they are looking for footage of the vehicle that may have taken three possible routes — Parkway between the Doumont area and College Drive, Jinglepot Road between Doumont and College Drive and Old Logging Road from Lantzville to Vipond Road.
