Man, woman arrested after West Broadway robbery

Winnipeg police have two suspects in custody after a 19-year-old man was assaulted and robbed in the West Broadway neighbourhood Tuesday night.
The victim was walking on the 0-99 block of Furby Street, between Cornish and Wolseley avenues, around 6 p.m. when two people approached him and asked for a cigarette. The victim was thrown to the ground and assaulted before his cellphone was stolen, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Wednesday.
Police scoured the area for surveillance footage, which provided a detailed description of the suspects and led to their location. Officers arrested a man and woman at a home on the same block of Furby Street just before 7:30 p.m., WPS said.
Police have charged a 23-year-old woman and 25-year-old man with robbery.
The victim sustained minor injuries during the robbery. Police recovered his stolen phone.
