Shots fired in a North End neighbourhood led Winnipeg police to multiple arrests and seizures of fentanyl and guns, the police service stated.
Police were called to the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue on Jan. 3 to look into shots being fired outside of a home, the police service stated in a news release Sunday. Officers determined a 38-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman inside the home were having a heated verbal argument that escalated to the man physically assaulting the woman, causing minor injuries. Police said the man then went outside and recklessly fired a gun, striking a neighbouring property.
Officers arrested the man, the woman and five other people. Police came back with a search warrant and seized a handgun, 3.6 ounces of fentanyl worth about $5,400, and 3.9 ounces of methamphetamine worth about $1,300.
