The Winnipeg Jets came up with a much-needed win on Tuesday night, edging the St. Louis Blues 3-1 at Canada Life Centre.
Josh Morrissey and Mark Scheifele scored on the same four-minute power play midway through the first period to give the home team an early two-goal lead.
Jordan Kyrou cut the deficit in half late in the second period, but Scheifele sealed the victory with an empty-net goal.
Goalie Eric Comrie stopped 22 of 23 shots for Winnipeg, while Joel Hofer made 13 saves in a losing effort.
Winnipeg improves to 20-23-6 on the year, including 5-1-1 in the last seven. They are now within seven points of the final Western Conference wildcard playoff spot with 33 regular season games remaining.
The Jets return to action on Thursday when they host the Florida Panthers.
