OpenText Corp. says it is selling its analytics database Vertica to Rocket Software Inc. for US$150 million.

Waterloo, Ont.-based OpenText says the sale includes Vertica’s software, customer contracts, services and employees.

It says the deal will help Open Text focus on its core products and on securing data used for enterprise artificial intelligence.

It also touts the agreement as a way to position OpenText for long-term growth and accelerated shareholder value.

The deal is expected to close this fiscal year but is subject to approvals and closing conditions.

Rocket Software has a headquarters just outside Boston and is part of private equity firm Bain Capital’s portfolio.
